1910:  Former NHL forward Milt Brink born in Hibbing, MN.  Brink played in the NHL 1936-37 with Chicago.

1936:  Goaltender Mike Karakas recorded his 11th career shutout in the Black Hawks' 2-0 win over the Red Wings at Detroit.

1950:  Former North Stars defenseman Jerry Engele born in Humboldt, Sask.  Engele played in the NHL 1975-76 through 1977-78.

1975:  Pittsburgh traded Bob Paradise to Washington for Capitols’ 2nd round pick, Greg Malone, in 1976 Amateur Draft.

1982:  Former NHL defenseman Keith Ballard born in Baudette, MN. Ballard played in the NHL 2005-06 through 2014-15 with Phoenix, Florida Panthers, Vancouver, and Minnesota Wild.

1983:  For the first time in NHL history a player scored a natural hat trick that started in the third period and ended with the OT winner, as Neal Broten's 3 straight goals gave the Minnesota North Stars a 7-6 win at Toronto.

1986:  Minnesota's Dino Ciccarelli scored his 12th career hat trick and an assist as the North Stars won 5-2 against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks.

1989:  Minnesota's Jon Casey made 51 saves and Dave Gagner and Mike Gartner each scored two goals and added an assist as the North Stars won 5-3 against the Blackhawks, in Minnesota. It was the Stars' eighth straight win at home.

1996:  St. Louis obtained Ricard Persson and Mike Peluso from New Jersey, in exchange for Ken Sutton and St. Louis' second pick in the 1999 Entry Draft.

2000:  Antti Laaksonen scored his first career hat trick (and the first in Minnesota Wild history) and added an assist, and the Wild set a team record with two shorthanded goals in a 4-2 win against the visiting Vancouver Canucks.

2002:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Jeremy Stevenson.

2003:  Kevin Weekes recorded his second straight shutout (the 17th of his career), and Bret Hedican scored a goal and added an assist in the Hurricanes 2-0 win against the Islanders at Long Island.

2005:  Jason Blake scored his third career hat trick, including the first goal 31 seconds into the game as the Islanders won 4-2 against the Flyers at Philadelphia.

2010:  Martin Havlat had two goals and an assist (on 6 shots) and defenseman Marek Zidlicky had a goal and two assists to lead the Wild to a 5-2 win over the visiting Predators.

2014:  Minneapolis, MN native Nick Bjugstad scored the winning goal just :21 into the game and Roberto Luongo and Al Montoya shared the shutout as the Panthers beat the visiting Hurricanes 1-0.
