1958:  Former NHL left winger Ron Friest born in Windsor, Ont.  Friest played in the NHL 1980-81 through 1982-83 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1967:  Minnesota North Stars recorded the franchises first tie at Met Center in a 2-2 contest vs. L.A. Kings.

1968:  John Muckler took over as the Minnesota North Stars' Head Coach, replacing Wren Blair who resigned from his position.

1971:  Former NHL center Roman Simicek born in Ostrava, Czech.  Simicek played in the NHL 2000-01 through 2001-02 with Pittsburgh and the Minnesota Wild.

1972:  Minnesota began a team-record 11 game home winning streak, with a 5-3 win over the Chicago Black Hawks.

1983:  Dave Christian had three assists, and Bengt Gustafsson scored twice, including the winner at 1:01 of OT to lead the Capitals to a 5-4 win over Vancouver in Washington.

1987:  Defenseman Craig Hartsburg scored twice and added two assists to lead the North Stars to a 7-4 win over the Red Wings, in Minnesota.

1989:  Jon Casey recorded his third career shutout and the Minnesota North Stars recorded the 400th home win in franchise history, 3-0 over the Chicago Blackhawks.

1989:  Joel Otto and Gary Suter each scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Flames to a 7-3 win over the Devils, in Calgary.

2002:  Marian Gaborik became the first player in Minnesota Wild history to get a power play goal, a shorthanded goal and an even-strength goal all in one game (his 3rd career hat trick) in a 5-2 win at Los Angeles; the win gave the Wild a 9-2-2 mark, best in NHL

2008:  Minnesota's Niklas Backstrom made 46 saves in a 3-1 loss in San Jose.
