1927:  Former legendary voice of the Minnesota North Stars on AM Radio 8-3-0, and KSTP 1500 - Al Shaver born in London, Ontario.  Al was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and won the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award in 1993 - "He Shoots, He Scoooooores"!

1955:  Former NHL left winger Terry Martin born in Barrie, Ont.  Martin played in the NHL 1975-76 through 1984-85 with Buffalo, Quebec, Toronto, Edmonton and the Minnesota North Stars.

1967:  Minnesota North Stars faced the St. Louis Blues for the first time in team history at home, and won 3-2, at the Met Center.  Dave Balon led the scoring with a goal and two assists.

1975:  The US Hockey Hall of Fame enshrined it's third-year members since opening in 1973 on this date in Eveleth, MN.  Inducted were:  Players: Stewart Iglehart, Anthony Conroy, Francis Harding Jr., Joseph Linder & Frederick Moseley Jr.

1978:  Minnesota's 3M company introduces rinkboard advertising to the NHL in a Minnesota North Stars-2 vs. Boston Bruins-2 game at Met Center.  The Met Sports Commission kept all revenue from all in arena advertising (signage, scoreboard, concourse, etc).  New G.M. Lou Nanne was told that he could have the money for the team for on-rink ads, so Lou sold ads on boards, ice and Zamboni - forever changing advertising in the sport of hockey. 

1989:  Rookie Mike Modano scored a goal and added two assists to lead the North Stars to a 4-2 win over the Sabres, in Minnesota.

1998:  Brad Berry officially announced his NHL retirement after nine seasons with the Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota North Stars and Dallas Stars.

2000:  Atlanta Thrashers picked up their first victory of the season (to end an 0-3-3 start) as Damian Rhodes made 27 saves for a 3-1 win at Edmonton.

2006:  Brian Rolston scored twice, Pierre-Marc Bouchard had three assists and Manny Fernandez made 35 saves as the Wild improved its franchise-best start (8-1-0) with a 3-1 win against the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

2008:  Owen Nolan scored his first goal as a member of the Minnesota Wild and added an assist in a 2-1 win over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets.

2014:  Babbitt Arena in Northern, Minnesota was re-named and dedicated the Ron Castellano Arena after longtime Babbitt Coach Ron in his honor.

2014:  Minnesota scored four times on their first eight shots and the Wild tied a team record with 13 different players scored at least one point in their 7-2 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning.

2015:  Former Roseau Ram, Gophers hockey, Miracle on Ice member and long-time Minnesota North Stars legend - Neal Broten was inducted into the Minnesota State High School League Hall of Fame.

2015:  Plymouth, MN native and Winnipeg Jets NHL forward set a NHL franchise record for the Jets with a 8-game point streak (4-7-11) to start the NHL season in a 5-4 win over the visiting Minnesota Wild.
