1941: Former NHL defenseman Mike McMahon born in Quebec City, Que. McMahon played in the NHL 1963-64 through 1971-72 with the New York Rangers, the Minnesota North Stars, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Buffalo.
2004: Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN hosted four World Cup of Hockey 2004 games, featuring the U.S., Finland, Russia and Slovakia.
2009: The Minnesota Wild unveiled its new third green script jersey at the Minnesota State Fair with Derek Boogaard and Wild mascot Nordy present for the unveiling.
