1935:  Former Minnesota Gophers, 1960 Gold Medal Olympian, Minnesota Fighting Saint and NHL goaltender - Jack McCartan born in St. Paul, MN.  McCartan played in the NHL 1959-60 through 1960-61 with the New York Rangers.

1937:  Hall of Famer Herb Brooks born in St. Paul, MN.  Brooks famously coached the 1980 U.S. Olympic gold medal team in Lake Placid, N.Y. and began in the NHL starting in 1981-82 with the New York Rangers and later coached the Minnesota North Stars North Stars, New Jersey and Pittsburgh.

1981:  Former NHL centerman Trevor Frischmon born in Ham Lake, MN.  Frischmon played in the NHL 2009-10 through 2010-2011 with Columbus BlueJackets, and N.Y. Islanders.

2002:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Dieter Kochan.

2004:  Carolina Hurricanes signed free-agent center, and Moorhead, MN native - Matt Cullen.

2009:  Minnesota Wild named P.J. DeLuca as Video Coordinator and Chris Pietrzak-Wegner as Strength and Conditioning Coach.
