1966: The Duluth Arena/DECC Grand Opening celebration took place in Duluth from August 4-14 with planned festivities & celebrations to much fan-fare in the Zenith City.
1982: Washington traded Wes Jarvis and Rollie Boutin to the Minnesota North Stars in exchangte for Robbie Moore and North Stars’ 11th round pick, Anders Huss, in 1983 Entry Draft.
1983: Brian Lawton signs a four-year contract with the Minnesota North Stars rather than attending Providence College, or joining the 1984 U.S. Olympic team.
1987: The State of Hockey hosts U.S. Olympic tryout for the Canada Cup at the Bloomington Ice Gardens.
1994: The newly formed Minnesota Moose of the IHL announced that KLGTv will carry 12 games over the air on the radio.
1996: The inaugural IIHF sanctioned in-line hockey World Championship tournament was held at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood, MN from August 4-10 that was eventually won by team USA defeating Canada 13-5 on August 10th. With the win, team USA went 6-0-0 finishing the tournament with the only unbeaten, untied record in the 11-team field.
2005: Chicago Blackhawks signed unrestricted free agents Martin Lapointe, Jaroslav Spacek and Mark Cullen.
2005: Minnesota Wild signed unrestricted free agents defensemen Scott Ferguson and Kurtis Foster.
