Vintage Minnesota Hockey - History

1949:  Former NHL right winger Tony Featherstone born in Toronto, Ontario.  Featherstone played in the NHL 1969-70 through 1973-74 with Oakland and the Minnesota North Stars.

1952:  Former NHL defenseman Chris Ahrens born in San Bernadino, California.  Ahrens played in the NHL 1973-74 through 1977-78 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1960:  Former NHL left winger Tom McCarthy born in Toronto, Ontario.  McCarthy played in the NHL 1979-80 through 1987-88 with the Minnesota North Stars and Boston.

1973:  Mike Yeo born in Toronto, Ont.  Yeo was an assistant coach in the league with Pittsburgh starting in 2005-06, and was named head coach of the Minnesota Wild in 2011-12.

1981:  Winnipeg sold goaltender Lindsay Middlebrook to the Minnesota North Stars for cash.

1995:  Philadelphia Flyers signed Joel Otto, Scott Morrow, Darren Rumble and Shawn McCosh as free agents.

2000:  New York Islanders signed free agent Dan Trebil.

2001:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent Brad Brown, a defenseman who had been with the New York Rangers.

2009:  Pittsburgh Penguins signed free agents Wade Brookbank and Wyatt Smith.
