1932:  Willard Ikola born in Eveleth, MN.  Ikola was an American ice hockey player and High School Boy's hockey coach at Edina, MN.  Born in the Iron Range, Eveleth was a powerhouse in hockey (owning seven State High School championships, including the very first Minnesota state hockey tournament in 1945, and producing six members of U.S. Olympic hockey teams, Ikola began playing hockey as a young boy, eventually going on to play in the 1956 Winter Olympics and coaching High School for over 30 years in Edina, MN.

1957:  Former NHL defenseman Jim Korn born in Hopkins, MN.  Korn played in the NHL 1979-80 through 1989-90 with Detroit, Toronto, Buffalo, New Jersey and Calgary.

1974:  Former NHL left winger Jeremy Stevenson born in San Bernadino, Calif.  Stevenson played in the NHL 1995-96 through 2005-06 with Anaheim, Nashville, the Minnesota Wild and Dallas.

1984:  NHL left winger Zach Parise born in Minneapolis, MN.  Parise has played in the NHL since 2005-06 for the New Jersey Devils and the Minnesota Wild.

1984:  NHL right wing Brad Staubitz born in Bright’s Grove, Ont.  Staubitz has played in the NHL since 2008-09 with San Jose, Minnesota Wild, Montreal and Anaheim.

1985:  Former NHL defenseman Casey Borer born in Minneapolis, MN.  Borer played in the NHL 2007-08 through 2009-10 with Carolina Hurricanes.

1987  NHL goaltender Alex Stalock born in South St. Paul, MN.  Stalock has played in the NHL since 2010-11 with San Jose and Minnesota Wild.

1995:  NHL right winger Hudson Fasching born in Milwaukee Winsconsin (raised in Apple Valley, MN).  Fasching has played in the NHL since 2015-2016 with the Buffalo Sabres.

2003:  Minnesota Wild announced the signing of signed free agent center Marc Chouinard, who had been with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

2015:  Tonka Bay, MN native - Evan Kaufmann announced his retirement from professional hockey.

2016:  Minnesota Wild re-signed defenseman Matt Dumba to a two-year, $5.1 million contract.
