1940:  Former NHL right winger Bobby Rousseau born in Montreal, Que.  Rousseau played in the NHL 1960-61 through 1974-75 with Montreal, the Minnesota North Stars and the New York Rangers.

1946:  Former NHL left winger Barrie Meissner born in Unity, Saskatchewan.  Meissner played in the NHL 1967-68 through 1968-69 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1958:  Former NHL defenseman Bob Bergloff born in Dickinson, North Dakota.  Bergloff played in the NHL 1982-83 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1979:  Former NHL center Erik Westrum born in Minneapolis, MN.  Westrum played in the NHL 2003-04 through 2006-07 with Phoenix, the Minnesota Wild and Toronto.

2001:  Minnesota Wild signed free agent defenseman Mike Crowley, who had been with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

2012:  The Edmonton Oilers re-signed Moorhead, MN native center Chris VandeVelde on a one-year contract.  VandeVelde was selected by Edmonton in the 4th round, 97th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
