1948:  Former NHL goalie Glenn Resch born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.  Resch played in the NHL 1973-74 through 1986-87 with the NY Islanders, the Colorado Rockies, New Jersey and Philadelphia. He later served as coach with the Minnesota North Stars and Ottawa.

1958:  Former NHL player Ilkka Sinisalo born in Valeakoski, Finland.  Sinisalo played in the NHL 1981-82 through 1991-92 with Philadelphia, Los Angeles and the Minnesota North Stars.

1965:  Former NHL left winger Kevin Evans born in Peterborough, Ont. Evans played in the NHL 1990-91 through 1991-92 with the Minnesota North Stars and San Jose.

1982:  NHL left wing Warren Peters born in Saskatoon, Sask.  Peters has played in the NHL since 2008-09 with Calgary, Dallas, and the Minnesota Wild.

1987:  Minnesota North Stars named Carl Wetzel as their new assistant coach.

1990:  Minnesota North Stars named Dave Chambers as their new assistant coach.

2006:  Chicago obtained Tom Preissing and Josh Hennessy from San Jose in exchange for Mark Bell. Blackhawks then traded Preissing, Hennessy, defenseman Michal Barinka and a 2000 2nd-round draft pick to Ottawa in exchange for Martin Havlat & Bryan Smolinski.

2007:  Washington Capitals signed free agent Joe Motzko.

2008:  Minnesota Wild named Matt Shaw as their new assistant coach.

2012:  St. Louis Blues re-signed Cloquet, MN native forward Jamie Langenbrunner to a one-year contract.

2012:  New Hope, MN native Jim Johnson was named as assistant coach to the San Jose Sharks.
